Fugue # 35

It isn’t that easy this time. So much has changed. The last one came before everything went digital. It was analog in a very real sense: What you found drove the narrative, and now, well, you can find anything on the internet, right? What does "found" even mean if you’re looking for it? Is this just contrivance and cleverness, outcome dependent crap? Or is it a reapplication of your old rules and ideas and twists on them - disregarding form while respecting it, and so re-regarding it?

Why did Mt. Fuji work? Because these views formed a multitude, a kaleidoscope of perspectives - your characters and you, and what you found. This new one is harder. Nothing will stay put. These people move, despite (to spite) you. They’re doing things almost without you. The mood shifts, gesture and intonation change with the daylight. This is right, feels right, and then it doesn’t. And wherefore art thou then, Zed? Huh?

You’re muusing again when you should be plotting, or at the very least dialogging. These digressions don’t get you any closer to knowing these people, or to knowing how this envelope of clipped pics and text helps you describe them. (If you could ever give up your biases - give them all up and write from your true pure heart - maybe then we’d get somewhere.)
